Mini-groups

Country Quilters has several ongoing mini-groups that meet monthly. Each one is unique unto itself and several members belong to more than one mini-group. All of the groups welcome new members and visitors.

30's Group - 1st Wednesday

This fun, lively group meets on the first Wednesday of every month at the Willmar Community Center at 6:00 pm. They usually work on a group project focusing on 1930s reproduction fabrics. These are fabrics from the 1920s to the th 1950s - covering thirty years. Recent activities have included a 1903s era block demonstration. These blocks are constructed at home and brought to the following meeting for a "Sew and Tell." Also completed has been a study of hand pieceing and hand quilting of a small doll quilt or wall hanging. Many members were challenged in using techniques they hadn't tried before. Participation in each activity is voluntary.

Sit & Stitch - 3rd Tuesday

Everyone is welcome on the third Tuesday of every month at the Willmar Community Center anytime between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Bring any kind of handwork (including knitting and crocheting) and work on your project in the company of friends. They gather in the Sunshine Room (south end of the building) and often someone brings a treat to share. Come and go as you like; there is no specific meeting time or agenda - it's just a social gathering where they share quilting tips, get ideasa on what to do with projects, show works-in-progress, and get to know each other a little better. They hope you can join them.

"Knot Crazy" Crazy Quilters - 2nd Tuesday

This mini-group is a small grouyp that meets the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Willmar Community Center (just before the monthly guild meeting). They focus on crazy quilting and embroidery. Everyone welcome.

Lullaby Quilts - 3rd Tuesday

This philanthropic group meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at 12:30 pm at the Willmar Community Center. The focus of this group is to make small quilts from start to finish for new babise visited by the Kandiyohi County Health Nurse. A quilt is given to new mothers in the county with instructions regarding the importance of "tummy time" for newborns and infants. Donations of fabric for tops, backs, and yarn for tying are always welcome.

Fiber Folk - 4th Monday

This mini-group meets monthly on the fourth Monday at 1:00 pm at the Willmar Community Center. The focus of Fiber Folk is to promote the fiber arts, to enable fiber artists to meet and exchange ideas and to learn about fiber art techniques through demonstrations and workshops. Their goal is to develop an appreciation of various fiber arts, to encourage creativity, and to have fun working with fiber.
